Im sitting with two shims and two turns out.. and im getting 43mpg.. Thats on a spirited ride through the forest running about 75 or 80 in fifth gear... Runs great.. still have some popping from the slip on...

I had four shims and 2.5 turns out with no popping at all, it really worked great for the winter... but now that it warmed up, it was loading up with fuel pretty bad.. Milage then was about 33mpg

Bike is running great again, but riding two up this weekend with the strong head winds 30mph+ on hilly eastern kansas highways my 600 drank 4.8 gallons in 130 miles??? I know cause the good Lord had me sitting with a dry tank in a little town 2 blocks from a gas station and a good Lad gave us a drink from his portable tank to get us there.

130 miles to a full tank? I fixed the drips and there wasn't any noticible problems (although I blame the acceleration on the fact that both me and my wife were on the little 600 and the wind was fierce).

On the way back I acheived just under 40 mpg heading north with the nice tailwind. Felt like we were going 45 mph when the speedometer said 70mph much nicer, but not over 40 mpg?

Finally hit just over 45 MPG!

when I was getting 43MPG max I adjusted the floats to what I measured first as 17mm from a measurement of 16mm. Then my mileage went down a little more.

Checked and adjusted the floats and found they were between 19-20mm.

I put them back down to 17mm and I have no noticible stumble at 2000-4000 RPMs. I can cruise at 4k easily.
Also: 1 shim and 2 turns on the A/F with stock pipe.

Now if I can just understand if my traveling mostly >70 MPH is the reason for hitting a max of 45 MPG, I would be satisfied. If I should get higher mileage at these rates of speed I will need to continue looking.

I can't beleave the mileage posted on this thread. I have a 96 600S and I get about 33-35 max! I drive normal but do stand on it hard thru 1st & 2nd maybe two to three times per tank but thats it. Would that make my mileage drop to 33-35mpg? Oh yeah, my air filter is pretty dirty I have already ordered one.

Do you do a lot of driving in town? My fuel milage is quite a bit lower when im in town due to all the stop and go acceleration. That and im not easy on the throttle usually.

but when i get out on the road, I run the bike pretty hard.. in between 5th and 6th gear from 65 to 80+mph and get about 43 or so...

Im now running my B6 carbs with a 01 Kat 750 motor.. got the same milage with the 600 too. Im running 107.5 mains now versus stock mains with the 600.

Yea, about 95% of my driving is around town, stop-n-go, short trips, about five miles or less.
I filled it right up to the top. I had to hit the Res right at 140 miles.

I'm happy to say I'm in the 43-48 MPG range now

after adjusting my floats. 2.5 turns on the A/F and 1 shim. (I'm considering going back to 2 turns on the A/F.)

I couldn't stand being in the high 30's for gas mileage on a 600.

I'm 50/50 city and highway commuting to work. Usually fill the gas tank up at least once a week. 25-36 miles each way depending on what route I take and the stops I make each day.

Gee guys your doing real well.
My little B6 chews though fuel at a rate of 30 MPG.
It runs hard and by the plug it isnt running to rich, in fact its near perfect,
But then again if it shyte me of that bad I'd put the stock ignition rotor back in undo all the carb work, and put the standard exhaust system back on. And the likely hood of that.
