Title: Air Filter
Post by: Arkan Eller on March 22, 2006, 06:46:08 AM
Hi,

I have a B6 (1G). A friend of mine has 4 K&N 43mm air filters that he'll sell me for next to nothing. Will these fit on to my B6? If so, is it just a case of pulling off the old airbox and pushing these filters on in its place, or is my ignorance shining through here?!?! Does the 43mm refer to the diameter of the "bit" that connects to the carbs?

Many thanks....

43mm should be referring to the size of the opening where it slides onto the carbs. I don't know what the size of the B6 carb bellmouth is, you may need to measure it yourself.

But to put pods on, will require rejetting.

Ok, well thanks for the info. I don't think I'll bother if I need to re-jet.

I'm sure you'll need to rejet, those individual filters will let a lot more air flow than your stock air box.  I would think twice about putting those on. Dale at Holeshot doesn't bother with them on the B6 because the little motor doesn't breath that much air, the stock airbox is ok.  You can drill some holes in the stock airbox and remove the snorkel for better flow.

Actually, Dale does make a kit for pods on the 1G B6.
He does say it won't give any more power and is offered for the looks.

And the ability to pull the carbs off hella faster.

Hopefully, you don't need to use that plus very often!
