All 4 Signals Flashing! Ideas?
« on: September 02, 2007, 03:40:26 PM »
Help!

Working on getting a newly-acquired 2002 B1200 sorted out. The PO had installed some sort of cheap-o aftermarket turn signals, none of which were functional.  After installing good signals and wiring LG>RT BLK>LT, they flash - all 4 of them - when the signal switch is moved to either LT or RT. Cancel works normally, however.

Opened the switch which seems to be in order and not messes with, and the wiring harness, as far as I can tell, seems not to be damaged.

Has anyone seen this phenomenon before?

Ideas?

head-scratching in Oregon.

thanks,

Check the wiring.

Never heard of a bad flasher doing this, but if the wiring checks out OK, that's about the only other thing in the system besides the switch, which you say looks good.

Might be melted wires

Paul,

About where I am now.  Disconnecting rears, fronts flash normally, disconnect 1 rear, 3 flash normally.  I ran new hot leads from front to rear, and problem persists.  Have concluded that there are possibly shorted wires in the main wiring loom. The melted front aftermarket blinkers and a 15-amp fues in that circuit lend more possimility to that. Just not what I want to do now is pulling the loom, unbundling it and inspecting everything.  Saw something similar once before on my RD125.
