does any one know if a 2k rear shock will fit onto my 98 bandit ?
-
Were you just looking to replace a bad shock or did you have something else in mind?
-
Yes, it will. Any B12 shock will also fit - as well as the GSXR shock mentioned in the FAQ. A 2G B12 will lift the tail ~1" to 1.25".

i do alot of 2 up riding my bike has 34k and so is well past its sell by date, saw a 2k shock on ebay and thought be a nice little winter project if its going to fit with no problems

A 2g b12 shock would not fit on my '96 b6. A 1g b12 shock did fit and made a great, cheap upgrade.
-
Why wouldn't it fit?
Pretty sure back when Bobcat had his 1G B6, he'd put a 2G B12 shock in his...
-
With the longer shock, the angle of the cushion lever and the shock was too sharp and lever would hit the body of the shock which would not allow all of the mounting points to line up.

I've got the g1 1200 shock on my 600 as well and it has been a good cheap upgrade to the original.

I got a 1g 1200 shock on my 96 B6. Got it from "chevsuz12". What a dif in the ride. I two do a lot of two up riding. When I got my shock off I laid it side by side with the 1200 shock. I was a little worried because the diameter of the 600 shock was bigger, and the spring was the same diameter as the 1200. The 1200 spring did have about 2 turns more in the same distance. But man when I got it on and rode it, Wow! It is such an easy, cheap, and quick mod you’d be crazy not to do it IMOA.
:beers:

I installed a 2005 GSXR 1000 SHOWA rear shock on my 00 B6...fits nice except for trimming the battery box / one piece undertail fender.....where the piggyback Nitrogen reservoir hits....MUCH nicer than stock and love the yellow spring look..
