Hi,
The downpipes on my Bandit 1200 GSF1200N (1998) have started to rot at the collector end. The flanges are starting to break off.
I understand that this is a common problem with this exhaust.
Is it possible to repair?
What size pipe is needed?
Does it need sleeving?
Stainless?
Thanks
Stu

Whether you can repair or not probably depends on how thin the surrounding metal has gotten. Either way, the exhaust will need to come off. Take the exhuast to a metal fab shop and see what they can do. Otherwise, its off to the aftermarket. Check ebay, usually there's something for sale on there.

Stu, you in the UK? I've seen loads of 1200 owners doing this here in the UK.

Banditmania in the UK even offers collector repair for Bandits.
Seems like it's a fairly common UK problem, but pretty rare in the US.
Maybe cuz us 'Mericuns are a bunch of fair weather riders?

You are correct about Banditmania.co.uk but they won't sell the kit. you have to send your pipes to them for repair.
Thanks very much for the suggestion.
I was hoping to have it done locally so wanted to know what the best mothod of repair was.
I couldn't possibly comment on the American style of riding.
