Title: Bent frame on a 2000 1200s
Post by: KoolDawg6 on May 09, 2005, 09:19:51 PM
Hey all. This is my very first post and dang it if it is a not so good one. Anyways I dropped my bike several weeks back. I just now today got around to taking the off the frame covers and rear lights.  The back part of the frame is slightly bent from where the seat hooks on all the way to the tail light(left side is pushed down about an inch and both sides are shifted to the right about 2-3 inches). The frame rails are still straight so I'm guessing they only are bent right at the welds all the way up under the tank. The 2 rear most connector braces are bent(the seat locking brace looks salvagable, but the back one that the rear of the passenger handles hooks onto is history). My question is has anyone fixed this or had it fixed by someone else withouth replacing the whole frame? Any help would be much appreciated. My quest tomorrow is to start calling car frame shops to see if they know of anything and there are a few local race fabricators here in town I will contact as well.

Check with your local m/c dealers and see if they can recommend a m/c frame straightening place. Preferably, a shop that uses Computrack (http://www.gmdcomputrack.com/) equipment.

Well I tried all the local shops to no avail. They kept referring me to other shops in the VA/MD area and nobody would think about straightneing a frame... "once it's bent it's bent". I checked out the Computrack website again and emailed the closest shop to me that was listed in Ohio. I will see what is sent back.

Well no need to get my frame fixed now. I just won an ebay auction for all I need to fix my bike. It is pretty much complete low mileage 2000 Bandit 1200S minus engine, forks, wheels/tires that were used for a custom bike build. Thanks to all for all your help!!!!!!! My Bandit and I will ride once again!!!!!!!
