Best Synthetic non motorcycle oil?
« on: August 30, 2011, 10:33:23 PM »
First off SORRY! I know this is a really tired subject. My local Suzuki dealership isnt a dealership anymore beacause Suzuki is charging to much. And I havent seen any previous threads since 2005. So... whats best synthetic NON motorcycle oil so I dont have to pay shipping/handling? I heard Rotella T6 synthetic does NOT have friction modifiers? Again sorry for same tired thread but I know the manufacturers change formula it seems yearly. Red what u use?

Thanks Paul, 15w-50? You been using it awhile? I use mobile 1 in my vehicles. No worries about weight difference or friction modifiers? I know this is a beaten dead horse.

I prefer not to go quite so heavy... especially here in temperate WA.
Shell Rotella T is available in 15W40 in jugs at wallyworld, too - and is usually cheaper than Mobil1.  Diesel rated oils don't have friction modifiers and have a high shear strength suitable for bikes like Bandits that share engine and gearbox oil.

You don't normally find the friction modifiers in oils 40 weight and heavier - especially if you go with a diesel rated oil.

Hi Android12

You might want to check out some of the following threads.

For those who care, the Canadian spec XD-3 Extra 0W-40 has be renamed (in Canada) Mobil Delvac 1 ESP 0W-40. I don't think you will find this product in the states. The other product that I have some experience with that should be pretty similar North and South of the Border is the Mobil Delvac 1 ESP 5W-40. For many US guys, the Shell Rotella T 0W-40 Diesel oil seems to be pretty easy to get. For the Air/Oil Cooled Bandit, with no CAT in the exhaust, most HD Diesel engine oils meeting CJ-4 specs should work just fine.

I'm with Red01, SAE 40 (0W-40, 5W-40, 15W-40) should be adequate, unless your local temps is very hot. (Of course I'm from Canada, so don't always know what hot is  :stickpoke:)

Just got back from a week long m/c road trip (PMackie -above- was along for a good part of it  :thumb: ).
I less than two weeks I'm off to Hawaii for 10 days, so I'm working all I can to pay for all this time off.
Might be free late in the month?
