Bike won't Start - No dash Lights!
« on: January 04, 2007, 02:06:25 PM »
HELP!!!!

I went to start my bandit 600 (N reg) the other day and  this is what happened

Turned Key - Dash Lights came on
Tried to start engine but just clicked
Turned Key Off
Turned Key - Dash lights came on and then straight off and a click could be heard from around the battery area?

I checked the main fuse - OK
I checked the Battery with a Multimeter - 12.48V

I now have no lights, nothing, Nada!!! :boohoo:

Does anybody please know where I should startlooking?

PS both my headlights blew the other day before this occurrence but the bike still started afterwards.??

Thanks in advance for your help and knowledge

Check battery terminals for cleanliness and tightness.
Check all grounds & connectors for security and corrosion.

A fully charged battery should be closer to 13.2 volts. 12.4 is a little low. Your problem sounds like a low battery. So...as Red01 said, check all connections, etc and charge the battery.

Thanks for the replies

I have had the battery on the trusty old Optimate so I don't think its that as even when fully charged I get nothing - dead as a dodo.

All connections look OK, could this be a blown relay somewhere?

I could see a relay making the starter not work, but not everything else... That's why I suggested looking for bad grounds, poor connections, etc.
