hello i am thinking about buying a 97 1200 bandit with 69k and the guy says it only does it at idle. can anyone help me find a page about how this is done. thank you. if anyone can message me on yahoo messenger (ridemoto4lif) NO e i would be grateful

Does what at idle? Is the cam chain noisy? If it's anything like the 80's TSCC motor cam chain tensioners sometimes rotating the tensioner knob counter clockwise and letting it snap back under the spring fixes it right up if it's sticky. I had to do that a couple of times after I rebuilt the top end on my 1984 GS750EF.

ya noisy. he told me i should buy a manual one but i dont know. its got stage 3 jet kit and full remus exhaust, k,n pods and geared down. would the motor be working hard enough to make me get a manual one.

A manual one is probably cheaper than buying a replacement stocker.
You can get a manual one for $51.65 from APE Racing.

all together its going to cost me 70 for a brand new automatic one. the guys at the shop said i should get that one because my bike is not a drag bike and i would not want to keep up with the manual one. he said they tend to go out on some years

Wouldn't think a manual one would need to be adjusted any more often than the valves. But sounds like you found a decent price for the auto one.

i think the guys at the dealership just want me to buy a stock one. they were really cool but they told me sometimes the plunger gets stuck or the springs wear out. at first they were just going to sell me a spring, but they ended up trying to get me to buy the whole unit. maybe its cheap because they have so many customers and are always busy.
