Yes, the stock countershaft sprocket has a rubber noise damper.

I noticed my non-damped replacement was noiser than the stocker. Either it has reduced a little over time, or I'm just used to it now, but it doesn't seem as bad as it was when new.

The flashing you have on yours doesn't sound good... I'm guessing it's a stamped sprocket, which are usually of a lesser quality level than machined bits. I'm not brand loyal to any sprocket company, but do want machined ones, not stamped ones.

Thanks for the reply, Paul. I hope this serves as a warning to those inclined (like me) to "go cheap".  In the near future, I plan to check the countershaft sprocket for hooking. If the part needs replacing, do you know who makes really hard sprockets that also have the cush drive?

AFAIK, only the OEM one has the damper.
(It's not really a cush drive, that's in the rear wheel)

Just bought a 110 link VM DID.....gold and black....did not order the gold and black, but  that is what the supplier had.  I agree that the front suzuki sprocket is quieter....but kind of $$!!!!!!!! Never replace just chain on old sprockets....false economy....I clean it with kerosene, a light plastic brush...and lube regularly, with a GOOD lube.

Snubnose (a member here) replaced his chain & sprockets last summer, and ended up going back to the stock front sprocket. The aftermarket was that much more noisy.

My local shop did recommend going with the stock front just for that reason. The front Suzuki sprocket was about tripple the price of aftermarket, when I did mine.
