difference in the 1200 motors

Hello all.
 I'm looking to put a 1200 motor in my 90 1100. How are the 1200 years grouped together?  I'm looking to buy one soon and I don't want to buy lets say a..... 98 motor and a 03 ecu and they not match.  I'm trying to find a motor package but it's hard to do sometimes. I've been looking about a month or two with little luck.

'01 - '06 similar to previous but introduced the PAIR system to reduce emissions
'07 - '08 water cooled

So are all part interchangable. meaning a 98 ECU/CDI into a 03. or 98 wiring harness to a 05?

Are the valves screw adjusted or shimmed?

Valves are screw adjust....  not sure on the rest.

Several minor changes (carbs, TPS, computer, alternator, clutch) occurred in 2001 besides PAIR ( CA models had PAIR before '01), so I'd use '00/'01 as a split.  So if I found a '98 motor, I'd want to use a ECU from a '00 or earlier.  If I found a '03 ECU, look for a 2001-2006 motor.

To make a long story short. You can bolt a GSXR motor from 86 to 92 into a "90 1100 Katana or GSXR"  600cc, 750cc, 1057cc, 1127cc 
Up to 90 or 91 (getting old CRS) are rocker 91 to 92 are shim the motor will fit just have to have a boat load of adjusting shims on hand to do your own valve adjustment. Performance people like Rocker because @ 14,000 RPM shim heads can/will spit shims ALL OVER INSIDE YOUR VALVE COVER  All oil cooled bandits are rocker heads,,, 01 and up have a better clutch spring than before models. Katana's have coil springs and early GSXR 750 (sling shot) have dry clutches.
If you just plan to ride around blow 11,000 RPM,.,,,, no problem with any of the above motors some different in gears on crank and so on so on on 1057 1127 ect. ect.
This is a pic of one of my bikes 1989 Katana 600 with a 1990 GSXR 1127 motor in it,
the only problem with this set up is I have to pull the motor out to adjust the valves,,,,,, The up side,,,,,, You just have to see the faces on the Busa folks when I outrun them on the drag strip!!!!!

OH! PS I run the 600cc CDI on this bike because the 600's have a higher RPM rev limiter and I use a Dyna DRL-400 2-step to set my rev. Limit

For its worth this is my 7/11 (1989 GSXR 750 with a 1990 1127 GSXR motor and Rajay Turbo)



Long story short 86 to 92 oil cooled and all oil cooled Bandit motors will fit in the frame
