I own a 2001 Bandit 600S and i was working on the rear lights when i noticed this...

it was located here... right above the rear lights.

it weights about 2 pounds and i was just wondering what the heck its for.
thanks for taking a look.

Is that the Flux Capacitor??? :bandit:

It's intended to be a vibration damper...
...and wheelie assist. :stickpoke:
I removed mine. Haven't noticed any differences.
-
thanks. i figured much. since that peice kind of was flexy.
thanks a lot!

Its a vibration dampener, basically a hunk of metal on a rubber mount. At certain times when vibrations pass through the frame this will vibrate instead and cancel those vibs in the surrounding area.
-
???? I don't think my bike has one of those. Good to know. I'll look for it. Why didn't they just fix the vibration problem instead of sticking weights to the frame? LOL!

Because it is a lot easier to put that little add-on damper than it is to re-engineer the engine they designed back in the 80's to add a balance shaft. :bandit:
