Title: Dropping rear caliper for R&R of rear wheel 05 1200s ban
Post by: lucas on April 29, 2006, 11:59:17 AM
Hello all,

I have a 2005 gsf1200s bandit and according to my Haynes manual I need to unbolt and drop the caliper when removing the rear wheel. But the Suzuki owners manual makes no mention of this, only requiring that the brake torque arm be unbolted and droped.

Can anyone tell me which is correct? I have never removed the rear wheel on this bike so any tips or tricks that the manual might not point out would be appreicated.

Thanks

You have to remove the rear axle to get the rear tire off.  Since the brake is attached to a bracket which is attached to the axle, the brake has to come off.  I suppose thats why the service manual doesn't say anything about it.

I only unbolt the torque arm when the wheel comes off. Never have had to unbolt the caliper from it's bracket.
