Found this link a while back, makes perfect sense, especially on a straight piston swap where all other parts are already worn in. I will put it to the test on my fresh 816cc GS750ED this fall.

Before anyone goes beserk, I understand this to not be an invitation to thrash your fresh motor, but to take it through the rpm range without restraint on break-in.

His warm up and oil change info is very important.

Anyway, its a good read.

We've used the same procedure for breaking in our 450YFZ, the Z400, the YFZ200, and my Banshee when I had it.  Never with any negative results.  Just remember that it's important to be warmed up first.

Nothing new there... I was always taught, break 'em in how you're gonna use 'em.
