Guys,
I have a question about re-torquing the head bolts on my bike. I read in the Haynes manual that they should be torqued every 3700 miles, does anyone do this?
I bought an 02 with 13K and of course the owner treated like his baby and did everything. blah blah blah... (Really, why does the brake and clutch fluids looked like burnt coffee?) So I'm doing the valves and want to know if I should crack the head bolts loose and re-torque them . My concern is that this to disturb the head gasket and have to change that in a few hundred miles.
What do you guys do?
Joe

You won't disturb the exhaust gaskets. Just undo (and replace) one bolt at a time.
Make sure they are covered in penetration fluid and left for a few hours before you attempt to undo them. :beers:
I check all bolts on my bike whenever I do a service, so about every 6 months or so.
It just gives you that extra piece of mind

Thanks,
I was just going to crack the bolts loose not remove them. I"m going to do it since it is a used bike and who knows when it was performed last.
