Title: GSXR 1100 engine in a B12???
Post by: olds_cool63 on June 13, 2009, 10:44:17 PM
Hey, gang.

I'm just thinking out loud here.

Since the B12 engine is a bored, re-tuned early Gixxer 1K engine, wouldn't that engine fit perfectly in a Bandit frame?

Everyone loves mods, but wouldn't a 128-130HP gixxer engine be the ultimate mod? Maybe the frame can even handle one of the 143HP engines?

Let me know your thoughts, people.

Bolts right in.  Go with one of the 1127 motors though, not the earliest 1052.

Cool, dude.

Just something for me to keep in mind for whenever my engine goes or I just feel like doing a mod.

Bikes don't stay stock with me for very long.

:btw: It's not that hard to get 128-130 hp out of a Bandit motor and 143 isn't out of the question.

Click here (http://www.holeshot.com/b12project/) to see a B12 with 150hp on OEM 1G carbs.

I never get tired of looking at your bike
Dosn't the head from a 750 slingshot motor also bolt right on for extra compresion? If so dose anyone know what it bumps it up to?
I've never dynoed my 1st gen B12 after doing the Holeshot exhaust, both cams, and K&N filters w/ stage II jetting. I wouldn't mind giving it a couple runs to to see how close I got with the carbs from start to redline.

Yes, the 750 head bolts on.  The 88-89 models are the ones that'll bump your compression.  Not sure how much of a bump in compression it gives though. They have better ports, too.

Keep in mind if using any GSXR head on a Bandit bottom end, you need to use the Bandit's cam sprockets.  GSXR cam sprockets and chains are different from the Bandit and NOT compatible.  (You can still use the 88-89 750 cams, just transfer over the B12's cam sprockets.)

Oldskoolsuzuki.info is an excellent resource, especially Frankenstein's Guide!  (I double checked my above info with it before I submitted my posts to be sure I was remembering things right.) The only think that I don't like is you can't direct folks to specific spots of their site.  Posted links often will take you to their front page or 404 out (like your second link).  I was surprised your first link actually worked and takes you to the 7-11 index page... and Frankenstein's Guide has a link there.

Well, learn something new everyday.  I thought the links would go directly to the correct pages :duh:.  I'll have to remember that for next time! :thanks:
