gsxr750 carbs on a B12??
« on: May 14, 2005, 05:47:46 PM »
Hey my brother enthusiasts, I'm looking to add power.  Got a slip-on and now I'm ready to drill the airbox and rejet. However, I've heard that the carbs and rubber intake's off of a 93-95 gsxr750 (38mm) fit right up.  Which is better to use the jetkit or to find some older carbs?                THANKS JBK

You don't need the 38s on a stock motor. If you have larger, higher compression pistons, then you might need the 38 carbs. I had a 89 gsxr with 1216 kit, 13.5 0 1, I used the stock carbs with stage 3 jet kit and ran 9.60 et at 135 mph. My Bandit is a 1246 cc, and I use 38 mm flat slides.
But if you pick up a set of 38s, cheap, it would be a good test just to put them on and see how they run.
If I didn't have a Suzuki, I would have a Kawasaki

Unless the carbs are cheap and you know what you're getting (ie; if they are stock or exactly what has been tampered with), you will be far better off with a jet kit. The stock carbs work fine with quite a few mods (ie; GSXR cams, bumped compression and 1216 big bore kit - all at the same time) beyond stock, so you don't need bigger carbs unless you're after some serious power. People have fed 150+ hp motors with the stock carbs (w/jet kit installed).

The rubbers dont match up very well, heat up standard ones with hot air gun and 38 will slip straight in.use jet kit for standard carbs, holeshot come with enough jets to get it right.Only use with hot cams and piston kit or you will find no hp improvement. As I have tried and dynoed it.
