Title: Headlight Problem?
Post by: Roadrocket59 on March 13, 2006, 10:53:45 PM
Hello, I just bought a 2002 1200S Bandit.  I have a question about the headlights.  Are both lamps low and high beam or is one a low beam and the other a high beam?  Thanks, John.

One low and One high
The story I have heard was that the R&D folks found out that a motorcycle with 2 head lights on, that the auto drivers think it is a car far away and will pull out in front of you. I thought it was silly till I thought about the little old man might think just that. I do think that a Harley with head light and driving lights on, looks somewhat like a small sports car from afar. There are a lot of links here on that topic and maybe someone here can post a link or two.

Thanks Brent.  I looked it up in the service manual and it shows one low and one high also.  Just didn't seem to be right, oh well!  John.

However, the low beam light should stay on when the brights are on.

Every so often someone will come up to me and tell me one of my headlights is "burned out".

So far I resisted the urge to have them look closer, then snap the bright on.

That'd be cruel and mean spirited!

I'll have to try it sometime.
