Title: How low can it go and still b rideable
Post by: indydan4 on May 31, 2006, 09:44:59 PM
Just got my new bike in and my wife wants my 98b12 but she is only 5foot and 1 inch tall, anyone know if I can, with a combination of dogbones and handlebar risers get the bike down low enough that she can get most of her feet onto the ground. She rides a kawa ex500 now and with the shock screwed all the way down and 1 and 3/4 inch risers the is almost flat footed.  She doesn't  ride very aggressive mostly highway stuff ,intersate riding not many twistys at all.

You're on the right track. A Corbin seat or a modified stocker will also help make it fit a short person.

Hi

We have a cut down seat on my Bandit (gel insert) so my better half can ride it (and she has a GPZ500 as well, amoung other bikes). She is a bit taller than your wife (5'2"), but is not worried about not being flat foot.

You can lower it further with the dog bones (or a shorter shock), and you can probably lower the front about an inch to keep things about level. Remember you will have to shorten the side stand as well.

All the best

Keith

I would think that a 1200cc bike would be a bit big for someone who is 5'1".  I rode with a girl once who was short and she was on a FJ1200 and it was definitely too big for her.  I am not saying that your wife couldn't handle the B12, I am just off a previous observation.
