Author Topic: Damn gauge lights! (Read 8543 times)

Upon starting the Bandit tonight the gauge lights came on for a second, then all of them went out. As if a fuse blew, but I don't know of a fuse for these lights. Does anyone know what circuit they are tied into? All other lights are functioning fine.

Help would be welcome!

This one's came up before. Can't find the right link, think Its in the FAQ. Any way I had this problem, Lights went out on my clock's. If you look down the line from your gauges to the connecter. open up the outter sleeving, dont know what year your bike is but mine is a B6 99' and the wire from the gauges is coloured Grey, when you traces it you'll find it has a crappy conector where 4 wires go in to one and there you should find the problem. the connector fails happend to me. Try this and let us know how you get on.

Have you sorted your's out Vee Dub? All most every Bandit owner I have spoke to in the North of England have had this problem,

No I havent messed with mine yet... Ive been to lazy to pull off the fairings so that i could get to the wiring harness. My neutral light doesnt work either, but so far i have learned to ignore both problems

Thanks for the help! It was the grey wire. But it wasn't a faulty connector, instead it was corrosion of the wire and it actually broke off. I cut off all corroded sections and replaced with new wire. She works fine now.

I have an old 1996 600 S. When I got it the OIl, Neutral, and Highbeam indicators didn't work. After checking the bulbs, wire contectors and fuses I was stumped. Like others have said I would strongly look at the light grey wires that come out of the wire clusters for your speedo, tach and gauges. They all crimp into one about six or seven inches down the line. My problem was simular but was with a cluster of Orange/Green Stripe wires that crimped into one. Same thing, about six or seven inches from the speedo and Gauge tree. Hope this helps.

I had the same type problem a couple of weeks ago on my 98 B12. It was a fuse in the fuse box under the seat. 1st fuse on the right in the box

I just had that problem with my 97 600. It turned out to be the same wires that the others have talked about and the 1st fuse from the right blew out as well after fixing the wires.

I had the same problem when I bought my used 1200S. Grey wire had to be replaced!
