Jet kit Problems? Yes or No
« on: September 21, 2005, 07:08:34 PM »
Hey I've read where someone heard that people have more problems with installing and dialing in Dales kit over Ivain's jet kit.

Who here has had trouble getting there jetkit dialed in the first after Installing it in there 2G Bandit 600.

I'm just kinda curious to see who has actually had trouble, instead just hear say  but please respond only if you have 600.

IF you had trouble with your b12 I would like to hear but please tell that it was for a b12 in your posting

thank you for all posts

Les - I turned this into a poll for you.

Everyone else:

NO problem means you followed the instructions and the bike works better than it did before - good enough you didn't need to go back in and fiddle with things.

YES, some problems means you had to go back in and make changes.

In the interest of fairness, if you're the kind of person who HAS to fiddle with jet kits to try to find the ultimate goal, try to vote on how well you thought the first try was for the average shadetree howler monkey who's not as picky as you are.

Anyone who votes they had (or still have) a problem with a jet kit should also post and let us know what sort of problems you had. Also be sure when you post, you tell us what models Bandit and the brand AND stage kit you're talking about, nobody knows how you voted.

I've put two HS kits in two different B-12's (both mine - 1G and 2G) with out any issues or problems.

My problem?  I only get to vote one time on this thread!   :duh:

The only "small" mention I made to Dale on his kit was for some additional hints.  This was mainly for carb tuning novices.  (told him to mention soft carb bowl screws and warn of float hinge pins that are held in place by the bowl).

2g 1200/Holeshot:  I've been having some minor problems running a bit lean on the low end and now having problems running lean on the accelerations.

Just fitted a stage 3 dynojet kit to a B12. Aside from the instructions being crap (aren't they always?), no problems at all. Lovely curves on the dyno, fuels perfectly, and the stiffer slide springs give razor sharp throttle response.

Highly recommended.

The instructions with my Holeshot Stage II kit (about what DJ calls a Stage III) were GREAT!  :bigok:

I did consider the Holeshot kit to be honest, but I wanted the stronger slide springs to sharpen it up. The intention at some point is GSXR injection, but that'll have to wait until I have the time.

When I say the instructions are crap, I mean the text depicts the components differently to the diagram. The OEM washers which sit under the E-clips aren't shown in the pic, but the blurb says "use all original spacers". In reality there is only one way to go as the slide doesn't seat properly with the DJ needles if you leave the washer out. Not a problem for someone who's been ripping bikes apart for years, but I can see it causing confusion to a novice.

I voted holeshot for B12 (stage 2 with pods) and no problems, but that isn't entirely true.  I had problems, but I think they were due to the previous owner improperly adjusting the floats.

I installed a Holeshot Stage 1 kit on my 02 1200.  Dale's instructions were clear and easy to follow.  His base settings worked great first try.  Performance and gas mileage were improved.  Dale is only an e-mail away and he answers questions completely and promptly.  He has done his homework and it shows.  His customer service is second to none.

Anyone have a link to, or know how I can otherwise obtain, Holeshot's and Ivan's installation instructions for a stage 1 kit in 1G B12?

Thanks!

I know that he won't email the instructions.  I lost mine and he faxed them to me.

I just finished the Holeshot Stage 1 on my 02 B12 with no problems with a holeshot slip on.   I have only been riding it for about 20 minutes but so far it has been super smooth.
