Jet kit install price

My local shop charges 70 dollars a hour labor.  I was going to puchase the stage 1 jet kit for my 2001 b6 since it runs a tad lean and i hear its helps with the cold blooded nature of the beast.   my question for those who have installed and tuned it themselves is how long did it take? Also i am using my stock exhaust due to budget restraints so i was wondering this will be ok.

Having never taken a carb apart (let alone 4 of 'em) before,  it took me about an afternoon from start to finish to do a Holeshot stage 1 on my B12. Someone with any kind of mechanical ability would likely be able to do it in a couple hours I would guess.

However it should be someone with basic automotive mechanical skills and follow a set of instructions as opposed to someone with pluming, heating and curtain rod skills.

I'm sure this has been asked before, but what all tools are required for a stage 1 kit? I don't have crap for carb tools and suppose it's time to invest in them.

A float bowl gauge would be a handy item to add, other than that simple hand tools sufficed for me. I guess if you really wanted to get serious then a carb balancing system would be on your list.

Less than an hours work once the carbs are out.

An impact screwdriver is helpful on getting the float bowl screws out... the heads on them will strip before they loosen.  They should be replaced with allen head screws.

Also, carbs should be sync'd afterward.

thanks guys.  i will get a quote next friday when i get my new tires mounted.  I would try it myself but the only thing i have done with a carb was install one on a old 12a rotary engine.  thats just a few bolts and hoses.  no big deal.  i didn't actually do anything with the carb itself other than bolt it on and connect a few things
