I have this really annoying vibration coming from the engine starting around 5000rpm, and continues up pretty high in the rev range. It's bad enough that my hands itch when I finish riding after 30 minutes on the highway. I'm also worried that it's going to start shaking nuts and bolts loose on the bike. I dropped my bike off at the shop a couple weeks ago for a valve adjustement thinking this may have been the problem and found I had 5 valves that needed adjusting. However now it seems to be running just as rough, and unlike before it's constant and not intermittant like before.
I haven't tried a carb sync yet, I'll run a search on here to find out how that's done and give it a shot. But if that doesn't solve it, what do I look for next?

I believe 5-7K rpm is the spot where the 600 has its buzz zone. Unfortunately, that's also the typical cruise zone. If the vibes in yours leave after 7K, then I'd say there's no mechanical problem. About the only thing you can do is avoid cruising in that range as much as possible. Some have some success with regearing so the engine spins faster or slower, or run the gearbox a gear lower to spin it faster

My 2G 600 buzzes a little from 5-7, but not a lot. It got marginally better when I shimmed the needles to make it a little richer this year.
Bar snakes, good bar ends, carb sync all help. Make sure all you engine mounts are tight, as well as steering head bearings adjusted properly.

I'll try revving a little higher to see what happens. Of course 70mph is 6200rpm, it figures!
One thing I did notice is it runs smoother in cooler weather. Coming in to work today it was about 50F compared to the 70's we have during the day. No vibrations, just a light hum that doesn't strike me as abnormal. Am I safe to assume my carbs need adjusting?

Can't hurt to check and make things as good as possible, but it sounds like what you're experiencing is just the nature of the B6 beast.

Sync the carbs first, and check all bolts, etc. If you carbs are out of sync, it definately causes some roughness.
Any chance you have vibration from a wheel bearing or bad chain?

Ok I've searched the site for carb syncing, is there a how-to somewhere that I've missed? I only see lots of threads where it's only mentioned, but nothing on how to do it.
The vibration occurs if I'm stopped and rev the engine (sometimes it shakes during warmup around 4k), so no chance of it being a bearing or chain.
Can't hurt to check and make things as good as possible, but it sounds like what you're experiencing is just the nature of the B6 beast.
I hope so, I'm just worried about the vibration shaking things loose.

1) It's standard multi-carb engine tuning stuff mechanics have been doing since the dawn of multi-carb engines. :wink:
2) It's covered in the service manual. If you don't have one, you can get one free in the "MEMBERS ONLY" section here. (http://forums.banditalley.net/viewtopic.php?t=877) (Scroll down to post #6. Actually, you can get two, a low res Suzuki manual or a medium res Clymer.)

Speaking of vibrations - this is what i have noticed so far...
At 130 km/hr and 6700 RPMs the bike is smooth as silk... it's the ultimate smooth zone on mine... now, what i noticed that almost in ANY gear and ANY RMP zone, as soon as i ease off the throttle (i don't mean close it completely, just drop the RPMs)... i get the most vibrations......as i twist the throttle, they slowly smooth out... IS THIS WHAT PPL ARE EXPERIENCING ?
The vibrations is felt mostly in the seat (i call it 'the balls tickler' :lol: ), and in the footpegs... and then the grips.
I went through all the bolts this weekend (frame, pegs, engine mount, headers) and tightened them just a tiny bit, it seemed to help a bit with the vibrations... but its still noticable...
I wonder what the engine guards are going to do... add vibrations, or lessen them.... i'll let you all know...
meanwhile.... any thoughts ??
P.S. I have yet to go a carb-synch...
