Clutch Master Cylinder "Protector"
« on: April 11, 2006, 05:20:39 PM »
In replacing the brake fluid in the clutch this weekend, I saw a little clip/basket in the clutch fluid reservoir.  It's listed as a "protector" on the parts schematics online.

What does it "protect"...what does it do?  It seemed to just sit on top of the hole to the clutch hydraulic line, with the same size hole, etc.

But it looked to have the same diameter hole as the line.  Not much of a filtering mechanism.

When you said "basket" I was envisioning some kind of screen in it.

Nah, it's just a piece of metal pressed into a sort of basket shape, with a place to grab it with your fingers and a hole in the bottom.  Reminded me of the sort of thing the eraser sits in, in an old mechanical pencil.
