My 96 B6's mid-pipe and can are one piece. That is, there are no screws or rivots at any of the seems. In fact, everywhere there is a seem it's welded.
So if I were to get a slip on Can, like say anything! Lets say a Scorpion. How do it put it on? I have one bolt at the header collector and one on the can at the rear peg. If I take those two off the whole can and mid-pipe come off as it is "one unit".
Since we're on the subject whats the dif between a slip on and a bolt on?
:beers:

You will need to get a midpipe from a B12. The midpipe and can are one piece. The one I got had a bolt on end for the can. The bolt on and slip on are just what they sound like. If the can bolts onto the end of the midpipe it's a bolt on and if the can just slips over the end of the midpipe it is a slip on. I was able to get my B12 midpipe from one of the other good folks on the board but I would imagine you might be able to find one on Ebay.

You don't need a B12 midpipe if you buy a slip-on that comes with a new midpipe - which is better anyway, since the stock midpipes on both the 1200 & 600 have restrictions the aftermarket ones do not have.
Since all the B6's have cans welded to the midpipe (as do 2004+ B12s), you can't use a bolt-on can unless you get a B12 midpipe. Since a bolt-on uses the stock midpipe, you won't get as much of a power increase from a bolt-on as you would for a slip-on. If you do go this route, either a 1G or 2G B12 midpipe will fit any B6, but the bolt-on's are different for 1G (2000 & older) & 2G (2001-2003) B12's so be sure you get a mid-pipe and can that match each other.
Keep in mind many of the can makers don't list the B6 (Holeshot does though), but an aftermarket mid-pipe & slip-on combo for any year B12 will work on any B6.

Hey,
As always thanks for all the great info. Just being curious I sent an eamil to pipecity.com and asked this question about my 96 B6. They checked for me ( checked a slip on not a bolt on ) and said that YES in does come with a mid pipe for my 96 B6.
So that is good news huh? I hope this helps someone else. My guess would be that the mid pipe prob comes for B6's 95 thru 99. Prob for the B12's around those years also.
Thanks again!
