I have a G1 B12S and I ride almost all winter. I'd like more wind protection during the cold weather so I'm in the process of removing the fairing so I can install a large old school windshield. I searched the forum and ended up ordering a 7 inch headlight kit from Aztec8.com Now I need to order the windshield. National Cycle sells this...

... which I think will get me what I'm looking for but I haven't been able to find anything else like it for comparision. I was wondering if anyone here has done something similar, what windshields they've used or recommend?

I recall years ago, on the oldest version of this board, there were a few who were running that screen on a naked B12 and liking it for the reasons you're looking at, here's a couple of reviews from the way-back machine...

Where'd you get that old picture of me?
I thought I'd had them all destroyed. :bandit:

:thanks:
Thank you Mr. Peabody & Sherman too! (I loved that cartoon!)
The info from the WayBack Machine answered my questions. So I ordered the PlexiStar 3 windshield today. They cost a little more now than they did in 01... $159 delivered, but if I can ride a little further when it's real cold out then it is worth it.

Hopefully they are using better plastic now as my 1990 version on my KAW 750 CSR would crack at the mounting points after the 1st year. I recently bought something like that in 2006 for a quad I had and the thing was so much better, much tougher and and didnt crack, better plastics now I think.

Cracks! Nobody likes cracks in their windshield! I think that's why the use this method on their windshields now...
Many years ago, during the development of the clear fairing, National Cycle found that ordinary drill mounting methods caused stress cracks and eventual breakage of acrylic shields. That's why we developed and use our patented No-hole Ballsocket system on all of our acrylic products.
Anyway I'll let you know how it works out this winter.

This morning I removed the fairing from my 97 B12 and installed the Aztec8 headlight and the PlexiStar III windshield. I just got back from a ride and I was so warm that I think I'll be able to ride in comfort anytime the streets are dry this winter.
