Title: Need Help with Can info
Post by: NarkolepticBandit600S on April 28, 2007, 01:08:28 PM
Im looking for a aftermarket can for my G2 B6 (2001). I have looked a lot and came to one terriable conclusion. Im broke and cant afford $300+ for a muffler. I really want to get a stage 1 jet kit but figure, whats the point if im just using my stock can. I have seen some manufactures that make cans for other bikes and of course, SV's but they never list if they have one for the Bandit.  I have looked on the E-Bay but its a pain to sort through all the misc parts that pop up when you just search for a "Suzuki Bandit Parts" you get so much junk.  I was reading this fourm and saw that a guy bought a complete system from the headers back for like $200 bucks! I would really love to get into a decent S/O but I want to kinda be a little on the Frugle side.
So I guess if anyone has any advice or Is actually selling a more free flowing Can that will fit my bike I would love to know.  Thanks, BTW this is the greatest source for info out there, I really hope this stays up.

Any slip-on that comes with a mid-pipe that's for the B12 (any year) will fit the 600. If you get a stock mid pipe from a B12, you can use bolt-on cans designed for the generation you got the mid pipe from. If you use a 1G B12 mid pipe you can also bolt on a RF900's OEM muffler. The RF900 can flows better than any of the Bandit cans, but not quite as well as an aftermarket one, but it's quiter than any of the aftermarket cans and keeps a stealthy look. You can also do like the B4 guys and cut the stock muffler off your B6's midpipe and clamp on a generic can.

A Stage I jet kit will help out the 600, even with the stock muffler still on.

I have a holeshot Muffler and mid pipe and a Yosh can and mid pipe, that I would gladly give to anyone who is close enough to pick them up. :congrats:
I also have a D&D header and a Holeshot Header with one pipe broke loose, that will be going in the scrap medal pile soon.

Narco, I can set you up with the stock mid pipe from a gen 2 b12 for shipping costs if you decide you need one.

Hey B, I would take those off your hands if they are in decent condition. I want to fool around with some diffrent setups. I would pay shipping and all since iowa doesn't border TX.

I still have a stock can and I just drilled the air screw and shimmed the needles on my 600 this winter. Stock mains though.

Definately worth doing. It helps fill in that "flat spot" from 4500 to 6000 rpm. Noticably better roll on in top gear from 4800 rpm+. Smoother overall operation.

I'm doing my first long trip next weekend, so I'll have a better impression when I get back.
