What year bike do I have ? It was advertised as a 00, however the vin # is JS1GV77A312100455 & from what I can find it's a 01. The build date is 5/00. The #3 in the vin is correct , not a *.
I'm trying to order a jet kit but, I'm running into a problem trying to figure out what year it is. Here's a pic if that helps. Thanks in advance.

That's a second gen..all right.
I can understand why you wanted it too be a faster first generation Bandit though.

Don't get confused with the build date & model year. The build date is listed on the VIN tag, but the VIN is what actually nominates the model year.
Yours is a 2001. I have a 2002 which was built in 2001. Keep in mind that all bike manufacturers start building models the year before they are actually released, so that they can build up inventories to ship to the dealers for the begining of the riding season.

Bazza :thanks: I knew the vin was 2001. It's just that Tx has titled it as a 2000 :duh: . It's a clerical screwup. Anyway I've been to the DMV & they'll will reissue another title.
