Title: New member with a few questions
Post by: charredremains on April 22, 2010, 01:53:33 AM
 Hi everyone,

I'm a new member here with a few questions about swapping parts. I've been riding for the past 15 years and have always just maintained my bikes never modifying anything other than handlebars, mirrors, etc.

I have just picked up a 97 b12 with 70k kilometers on it. It's bone stock and been really well maintained. I also have an 86 gsxr1100 (disassembled due to a blown 2nd) with 38mm mikuni's, k&n dual pod filters and a full kerker exhaust. I'm wondering if swapping the gixxer carbs and kerker exhaust would be a good idea? Any negatives to the swap? Anything else from the gixxer be an upgrade? I've read about cams but I'm not really into doing anything to an engine that runs so well. Like I said I'm new to these kind of mods but love the gnarly sound from the kerker.

Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Mike

Thanks

Don't think the exhaust will fit, not without other mods, anyway. IIRC, the oil pans are different between the GSXR1100 and the B12 - mostly due to exhaust routing.  Don't think I'd bother with the carbs either, unless you're moving the cams, too.
