Hi all,
a friend of mine got a problem with his B6 and he definitely doesn't like what the stealership is telling him.
In any condition, whe he revs up to 5k, there's a strange whirring or mechanical sound emanating from the engine. My first guess would be something with the timing chain. He stepped up to the stealership and got the response: "we don't knoow what exactly it is, but it doesn't hurt the bike" .Baaaaaadd.
So in his name i ask humbly for any info or help about this. Has anyone experienced something like it?
Ehh.. the bike is from 2000, so a 2G?

Well... 5-6K is where B6's always buzz, but if its not the normal engine vibe you're talking about, the chain tensioner is a good first spot to look at. A manual one can be purchased to replace the stocker and they're more reliable, but you will have to keep an eye on their adjustment - like as often as you adjust the valves.
