Title: Ohlins
Post by: Fordtech on November 09, 2009, 03:28:42 PM
Well guys I think I have pretty much decided to go for broke and install an Ohlins rear shock. After almost 100,000 km's of good hard miles, the B12 S (99) deserves a bit I think. The 93 GSXR 750 is Ok, but have my issues with it. I do not see me getting rid of the bike.....it is stone reliable. The only thing i wanna know is.....The Ohlins spring if it is compatible with me, I am 195 lbs...
Any experience out there??

I thought with Ohlins, they'd put on whatever spring you require... they should for the coinage.

I'm pretty sure they will.  Just talk to your supplier, they should have the charts to match you up.

... or were  you looking for the charts yourself so you could buy used?  (I dunno about those.)

Try Motocd.com. Rick is very personable, experinced, knowledable suspension man. He sells and rebuilds Ohlins,Penske, and makes a Congent shock for the Bandit (same guts as the Ohlins)w/adjustble ride height. He serviced my Works Performance shock for me.

Thanx all,
Up here these shocks are on clearance with whatever spring I want. I e-mailed the distributor for the proper spring.
I am around 204 pounds with riding gear and need to upgrade the spring a bit. All said and done, yes it is kinda expensive
But damn this bike owes me nothing. It has never broken down, after 100,000 km's it finally needs a bulb in the fuel gauge
So....I am gonna go for it. The GSXR shock I put in years ago is Ok...but let's face it, Ohlins is one of the best.

Gsxr 1000 07/08 will fit in, just need to cut a bit of the battery tray away. About 5mm
