Is it my imagination, or does the rear brake suck on these bikes? Single piston, right?
-
Eleven views and no replies? A simple yes or no would suffice! :thanks:
-
Yes it does, but it's also "adequate" for what a rear brake should do on a motorcycle.
Good upgrade is a S/S brake line, but it only gives moderate improvement.
-
I always found my B6 rear brake decent. Not great, but decent. Lacking a little "feel", but with EBC HH pads and stainless lines, I found it easy to modulate, and a decent push would lock up the rear.
Anyway, No...on both the 600 and 1200 it is a Two Piston, opposed Tokico caliper.

Thanks for the replies!
I think Paul said something but I was distracted by something in his sig.

Added A Galfer SS brake line a Galfer pads! The braking action is much improved! It will actually slow the bike now! Pads were the HH Ceramic 1375, highly recommended.

Nice to hear you got some improvement. Most of us don't use the rear brake that much, so the stock one is usually enough for settling the suspension.

i think it is just fine... on track or street... swap to better pads and maybe it is time to tear down the calipers and rebuild them. i do mine every other year and bleed in new fluid, super easy to do and makes a huge difference...
-
I only use the rear to trail brake in a corner, or while put-putting in stop and go traffic.
I always mean to adjust it so I don't have to push down so much, but I never do...
-
With better pads it's totally fine, if you still on the stock or shitty cheap pads, you're right it does suck. Still locks up though.
-
The first thing I noticed about the Bandit when I bought it was how bad the rear brake sucked.
The damn thing won't even lock up when I'm rolling forward in stop and go traffic, I have to tap the front brake just to keep from hitting the car in front of me at 1mph :annoy:
The bike has 32k on it and probably never had the calipers rebuilt. Eh, I'll start with the shiny SS rear line for fun.

rear is pretty weak.
