How possible is it to effectively repair a crack in the oil cooler of a 96 B600? Not sure where the crack is specifically but I think it is in a hard to reach spot on the lower right corner by the fins.
Any suggestions on how to do this?
Thanks,
Pete

Obviously, you have to find the damage first. It may be repairable by brazing/welding. A radiator shop may be able to fix it if you don't have the skills or equipment.

I sent it to my dads shop in dallas. Is it possible to replace it with another suzuki oil cooler, not bandit (ie katana, gsxr, gs1100, etc..)?
I think the crack is in a pretty tight spot that might not be able to be reached. I can get a replacement bandit one but I don't really want to spend $400.

You'd have to compare the other coolers with yours to see if they'd work. Mount points on other models may be different.

Does anyone know if a first gen bandit 1200 oil cooler with work on a first gen bandit 600. (as far as the fittings that connect to the oil pan)?

Haven't tried it, but don't see any reason why it shouldn't fit, especially if you're using the 1200's lines, which should be shorter since it has a bigger cooler.

Thanks, for the info. I bought a 1 gen B12 oil coller on ebay for about $60.00 and it fit my 96 B6 fine except for the fact that it is taller and wider than the original. You must have the hoses from the B12 oil cooler as well, which my came with. The width is ok but I had to gring off the hook that the bottom of the old oil cooler used to sit in, for clearance. Other than that my bike is up and running great again.
Thanks,
pete :beers:
