I just got a 97 Bandit 1200 and it was running a little rough so I got new plugs and changed the oil and air filter and decided to synch the carbs. It idles real rough and it fluctuates up and down. Sometimes it will even get stuck at a higher rpm and then drop down. I cant seem to get the carbs to synch. Anyone have any ideas?????

Might wanna check for vacuum leaks.

Where would i look for leaks? Around the carbs and the hoses?
-
check the carb topcaps you removed when you synched the carbs--i was having a similar problem with vaccuum leaks

Make sure the bike is very well warmed up. They will idea rough until they are fully up to temp.
Other than that, idle hanging up is usually a very lean condition. Could be an airleak, but I would be it is something to do with the jets.
Maybe a clogged jet. That could explain both symptoms. Or a stuck float...?

Well I cleaned all four carbs and it runs good now. I have a hesitation at 3-4k I think it might still be lean.

Chris,
Raise the needles one Radio Shack shim to get rid of the stock 3-4K RPM lean condition. Standard fare. Go out and have a blast!
