Hi, this may be a stupid question but im after an aftermarket exhaust, for a 600 K3 ive been reading in a magazine that the scorpions seem the be the best alround and I also read that they dont require the carbs to be tuned etc. Would I be able to fit a scorpion can without doing anything to the engine? Also does anyone know of any other good road legal cans for a 600K3 and if so do they sound any beter than the stock exhaust. I do not want to get a can thats far too loud for the road, but also dont want to get a can that sounds the same as stock. Cheers for ur help.

If you wanted to forgo the hassle of installing a jet kit you could shim the needles a shim or two. If you're mixture screws are drilled out, maybe opening them up a half turn over stock. That should tide you over untill you decide what jet kit to get. I really wouldn't recomend running the bike with stock jetting and a slip on. It will make an already lean bike really lean, it may have some big flat spots and theoretically you could do some engine damage.(not likely but possible). I would at least shim the needles 1 shim minimum. If you need some shims pm your addresss and I'll send you some.

You can get away with installing most any can w/o a jet kit on the B6... but the B6 is delivered from the factory with very lean settings already. A jet kit will certainly help no matter which can you choose. Especially help rid the bike of it's cold-bloodedness.

I put a scorpion on my 96 B6 with no jet kit. Only because I didn't have the cash to do both at the same time. Bike runs great but it does run leaner. Now, with just the pipe and no jet kit,  it has to be choked even if you just rode it 20 minutes ago. Other than that it runs great. Will be even better when I get the jet kit in it. I love the Scorpion sound. Not to loud at all unless you wind it up past about 8k then it starts to scream. Real nice sound.

Sounds even better when you cut 6" (150mm ish) off the end of the can and then replace the tail pipe!!! :lol:

Not TOO loud, but very boarder line, plus you do have to change it when MOT time comes, but I guess thats the same with alot of us.

I would highly recomend shimming the needles if you need to choke it that much. Just for safeties sake. YOu don't want to be frying pistons in the summer running that lean.

I'm sending you some shims. I would suggest only using 1 .5 mm (.020) shim in your case.

ok thanks very much, being someone who hasnt really got a clue, how would I go about "shimming" im guessing i will have to take the tank out and air box to get at the carbs. Can I get away with getting a slip on and just shimming I dont want to get a jet kit and cut holes in my air box or make any permanent mods. thanks.
