Title: Size of the steering stem nut?
Post by: Doch80 on November 06, 2005, 02:31:05 PM
Does anybody know what size the steering stem nut is on top of the tree?  I looked in the manual but didn’t find it… or couldn’t find it.  I need to take it off in order to slide the brackets down the forks for my two headlights… or, how do I go about measuring it so I know what size socket to buy?  Is it just the diameter of the nut (well if it was a circle it would be the diameter)?  I guess I’ll take some measurements and take it to the auto parts store and ask around.

This morning I took off all the fairing but stopped b/c I don’t have the right tools to take off the steering stem nut.  Once I get that off it shouldn’t be too difficult from there.  At least nothing broke or got stuck… like it usually does…. Of course the project isn’t done yet.

Anyways, I guess that’s all for now!

I have a 600 but I'll check the size for you in the morning.

Thanks chupacabra  :thanks:  but I just went to the store yesterday and got lucky on the first go.  Took it off, put my brackets on, put it back on and the world is right with itslef!

It requires a 30mm wrench/socket.
