I have a 96 B6. It's running ok. Starts right up and takes me where ever I want to go with no issues.
One day it started sputtering bad and couldn't recover. I replaced the NGK plugs with a set of Autolites. Cranked right up and ran great, and still I can't say it's running bad at all but I have noticed a slight sputtering at any rpm. It may have been there before but I never noticed because there was never an issue. If I have it in the center stand in neutral and spin it up to any given rpm, lets say 4k, it stays there but it's not as smooth as silk as it is a idle. It has a tiny and slight sputter.
What could be causing this? Anybody ever noticed this on their bike? Is it normal and now I paranoid? :shock:

It's probably just a little lean. Could even be just one cylinder. Run it at 4K and then kill the engine wthout idling. Pull the plugs and take a look. My Number 3 cylinder needs a smidgen more fuel than the rest of the cylinders. It was doing the same thing. It's almost like a misfire but it's just lean.

Make sure the spark plug boots are all the way down on the plugs.

Check for cracked Wacuum lines this would also cause a lean condition also!
