Can some of the pro's who know tell me?, what is the cure for the numb bum on the long haul?

Pretty tough to find a Suzuki Gel seat anymore.... they stopped making them a few years ago.  You can still find them on ebay and other places, but not too often... and most times they go for a lot more than they originally were priced ($125)  Reviews on them seem mixed.

Corbin is probably the best available touring seat for a 2nd Gen 600, although you may have to send it back to them a time or two to get it modified to your personal needs.

I have a corbin and in comparison.... the stock seat isn't all that bad.  I mostly bought it because I got a deal on it, and my wife wanted a backrest.

If it was me, and I didn't need the backrest.... I'd stick with stock and find other areas to sink my $$$ into.

I've been running a Suzuki Gel seat for a couple of years now.. first on my B6, then transferring it when I upgraded to the 12.  I find it loads more comfortable than stock.  I'm generally good on it for up to 5 or 6 hours of hard riding.  Note that it also has a real leather cover, which means that it breathes better than vinyl, but also requires some occasional saddle soap or other moisturizer to keep from cracking.  Also, it's a little less grippy than the stock seat.

But as noted above, they aren't easy to find.  I just happened to stumble across it on craigslist.  If you find one, I'd expect to pay more than $100 for it.  Not cheap, but then... probably a lot cheaper than many other 3rd party seats out there.

Somewhere on this site is my whining about my experience with Corbin.  I would recommend that you not do business with them due to their terrible customer service.  (It's like the run the business as a hobby when they have time.)  Even after getting the misshapen seat I received replaced (this took most of a year), it was not *that much better* than the stock seat.  Better, sure, but not for the $400 it cost.

The gel seat always sounded interesting, but good luck finding one that is not worn.

Doesn't someplace called Sergeant also sell saddles?
