I just got a new 1200 Bandit and it has been great. I checked the plug reading after 500KM and again at 1000KM and they looked perfect.
Now,I have 7200 on it and I have big probs!!!! Just off the needle it will load up a lot. It will actually die in traffic. Not real nice!!!!
I pulled the plugs again and they are totally black with soot. Not wet---just black soot. Way too rich and it feels like that when your riding it.
Drained the tank thinking it was bad gas. Changed the plugs. Checked the air cleaner(OK) and it runs the same!!! Found one loose vacuum line but it is horrible!!!!
What's up with this thing???
By the way, the choke is NOT on, but that's what it feels like!!!

A couple of things to check...
1. Drain the Airbox via the drain tube to make sure there is no buildup of oil in the airbox.
2. Double check, or change, the air filter again. It may look fine, but they can swell with water or oil from the crankcase.
3. Check your choke (enriching circuit) again. Make sure it is closing completely.
4. Put the fuel petcock on "PRI" to put it on prime. This will allow fuel to flow to the carbs without the engine running. Make sure that none of the carbs overflow, which would mean one or more float needles are sticking.

He can't do #4... no petcock on his '06 1200. :stickpoke:

:duh: Oops...Sorry HonestAl... :duh:
To check #4, on an '06 - 1200, you would need to connect a remote fuel source.
