Title: Too rich? Too lean?
Post by: apw100 on July 24, 2005, 05:04:15 PM
I just had a Holeshot Stage2 jet kit installed in my Bandit 1200 and I need some advice.  Since the install, the Bandit runs very poorly and hesitates at low RPMs.  The harder I hit the throttle, the smoother the engine runs.  My friend who was following me in his car when I rode it home said that the exhaust reaked of gasoline.  Any ideas as to what is wrong? Thanks

Sounds like whoever set it up needs to go back and lean it out a little.

1st thing I do,take it for a good ride then check the plugs. Make sure you take notes along the way, from start to finish. I've had mine out 9 times, and still could use some low end tuning. I'll have to check my notes befor making another move. But I think I can go up 1 (35s) in the piolots. Welcome to carb tuning 101

Dale is very good at giving advice, you may want to give him a call for some base settings.

One thing I have learned about jet kits is that humidity and altitude in your area can call for adjustments that are a little different than recomended.

You may also have one of your jet's that has worked itself loose. (It happened to me) My bike ran similar to what you describe.
