front brake seems soft

hi all
have just put a set of 6 pots on my bandit 1200
however the front brake seems a lot softer than before, adjusted right in i can squeeze on the brake lever under heavy braking and bring the lever about 1cm away from the bars.
im using the standard bandit 1200 master cylinder with hel lines
i have bled the system thru numerous times and its adjusted to the number 1 setting
the seals are all fine and im not leaking fluid anywhere
would i need to upgrade my mastercylinder? if so what to?

You shouldn't need to change the master, this is a fairly common swap on 1G's.  Sometimes getting that last bit of air out can be a major PIA... does it pump up at all?  That'd be the clue there's still a little air in the system.
A power bleeding may be in order, which usually means a trip to a shop (shudder).

yea it does pump and i have got some pressure

I had major problems when I changed to a set of GSX-R calipers. Bled the brakes about a dozen times and they remained very spongy. Took it out for a ride (being extremely careful) and within about 10 minutes they were as good as gold. I dare say all the bumps on the road cleared out the last stubborn air bubbles...

There's your answer... if it pumps up, there's still air in there!

If you want all air out you can lock brake for hole night by cable tie.

As ippo said, it sometimes helps to put pressure on the system and leave it for an extended period. I sure sounds like you still have some air in the system.

another thing to try is pumping brake fluid up from the caliper! Sounds bizarre but i think it's quite effective from what i've been told... worth a try if nothing else is working.

(if you do try this let me know as i've been thinking about it myself, just haven't needed to do it yet)
