first we thought fuel but was flowing as the engine turned over
we have had the plugs out but there is no spark
earthing the plug to the engine
all plugs checked and no spark
connections are all ok
and tried with alternative plug and still doesnt spark
we have taken the cover off of the signal generator on the engine itself i have just even managed to get my cdi tested and its fine!!!

i just got my bandit this summer too...went over to the guys house to look at it ...hear it run and test ride....loaded it on a trailer drove home....took the bike off the trailer and tried to start it ...turned over great and would start then die....found out how cold blooded these are and tried 1/2-3/4 choke at start up....once the motor warms a bit i cut the choke off....i start the bike this way everyday....no problems....

hope this helps.

Being that Bandit's are not fuel injected you'll have to start it with the choke all the time. What I do, and it works everytime is full choke, 2-3 full throttles cranks, hit teh start button....VROOM! No worries!

The motor will tell you when it's ready to ride. If it's really cold out leave it at full choke until the motor speeds up, then bring back the choke in stages. (turn off until the motor slows down - wait for it to warm and speed up again). Once you're near 1/4 choke you should be ready to roll.

Obviously on colder days (0-15C or 32-70F) once you start riding it will still take a mile or 2 to properly warm up so don't crank it right away.

If the engine isn't ready when you start you'll know it. Mine plays mind games when I make a full stop and teh 1st stop sign....it simply dies. (lack of fuel from being too cold)

Give it a shot and see how it goes.  :bigok:

If your coils are fine, why do you want to replace them?

have you tried checkin your clutch lever maybe it's not pulling the cable enough for the starter to engage.

i have a lil problem with my b6. when i dropped the bike, "due to me being 5.2" i'm on my toes everytime, anyways, it dropped on the left side and hit the clutch lever. now everytime i have to start it i really have to pull on the clutch lever for it to ignite.

if your electricals are fine, the only thing i can think of for now.

Your kill switch, to my knowledge, does nothing but cut the spark.  Discuss.

oh yeah, haha
i forgot all about that, i just never touch that red switch, hehe

boy it'd be funny if they did all this work tinkerin on the bike and the switch was off. haha

but these guys sound like they know what they're doin, so the swith is out of the question. :stickpoke:

My kill switch kills power to the starter, too... as do the sidestand and clutch interlock switches.

oh the side stand too?
i start my bike on my side stand. but no go if i put it on gear. it just kills the bike. probably some safety precaution thing.

hey paul did you ever get your laptop from your boss for the euro trip?
your one of the most knowledgeable bandit here. it would suck to lose you for 6 months.

You can start it on the sidestand if it is in neutral. No go, if it's in gear, even with the clutch pulled in. You can start it in gear with the clutch in and the sidestand up though.

As for the Company laptop... that's a no-go.
I'll have access to a Company desktop where I'm going in our on-site rep's office - and they said that's good enough for them.

I did go out and buy an inexpensive laptop though. One with enough features to make me happy. (Wireless net, DVD burner, enough hard drive to store pics until I can uplaod them to a web site.)

Gotta be able to get my BA fix - and keep you up-to-date with the French moto culture.
(And pay my US bills from EU.) :boohoo:

ok the switch is deffinately on
side stand up
clutch pulled in
starter motors spins the engine over
and there is power to the coils
(the ignition coil is fine i meant the main coils to be replaced)
i rang justbandits and they recon that the coils are the most likely to go?
has anyone had to replace coils?
