Why is my 2002 bandit the old shape?
« on: October 10, 2006, 05:46:05 PM »
I just bought a uk 2002  bandit and then realised it's the old shape after looking of the internet.  All seem genuine as far as paperwork for the bike but dont understand how this could be.

Have I been ripped off?

I have a gsf 600 X, if this helps.  I have looked on the internet and they stopped making this shape 99-2000 i think.

HEEEEEEEEEEEEELP!!!!!

Look at the tag on the frame.  You can see it if you look between the fairing and tank on the right side.  The manufacture date should tell you something.  I *think* the 1st gen and 2nd gen fairings are bolt ons, so its possible the original fairing got busted and somebody swapped on an older one.
I used to think the brain was the most fascinating organ in the body.  Then I thought, 'well sure, look who's telling me that.'

There is no fairing on the bike.  I do have a tag.  Will it have a manufacture date?  anything else I need to look for?

There is a date code in the VIN number, but I dont remember what they are.  If the MFG date on the tag is sometime in 2001, then you probably have an 02
