Title: wire location?
Post by: choppa on March 29, 2006, 04:04:06 PM
My bandit 1200 project is made up of various years parts and i'm having charging sys issues. On my alt/regulator there is a plug with a verticle and horizonal blade terminal for a plug. My wiring harness is a ? year and the plug was different. Does anyone know where the orange  and red wires should go? also have a "B" labeled stud on the voltage regulator, is this used? Wiring diagrams havent given specific info related to this and any help is appreciated.

Here's a closeup of the 2G's alternator, which sounds like what you have:

From the "B" post is it running straight to the positive side of the battery? Not fused? Orange/blk to what? My harness had a red and an orange wire to a parallel style plug. The harness that I have is kinda butchered up, turnsignal, stock ignition, neutral and kickstand switch wires removed aftermarket dyna 2000 ign w/dyna coils but my only issue is charging. all help appreciated. "Banditstein" ready to get it....

Do a board search for "alternator swap" - or maybe just "alternator" there's a thread here where a guy put a 2G alternator (like above) on a 1G bike (the plug you describe). You may find your answers there.

I'll go chase those wires later to see where they go.

Got it charging, the orange wire to the lower horizonal spade terminal (12v in)  and the red to the B post (goes through the main fuse to battery +). Chargin good... thanks
