yeah, yeah. another octane thread...

buddy of mine has a new B12 and took it to the dealer for the first service last week.  He said he was having trouble starting the bike when it was cold.  The mechanic at the dealer told him to switch to high octane fuel, and told him that all the high performance engines needed the higher octane fuel to run properly!

He's been running for a week, and guess what--no improvement.

Side note-they also tried to charge him an extra hour and a half of labor on the service, because when they put the engine back together they didn't get the gasket in properly, it leaked oil, and they had to do it again!  :wtf:

I refered him to my dealer, they are a little expensive, but they seem to know what they are talking about.

That mechanic doesn't know as much as he thinks he does.  :stickpoke:
Compared to repliracers, the B12 motor is not a high performance engine.
It's a detuned version of one... one tuned for torque instead of ponies.
Now if you modified it to be in the state of tune as its GSXR1100 parent, you might need the more expensive stuff.
