Author Topic: Vibratinfg Carburetor Intake Boots on 2005 Bandit 1200 (Read 4497 times)

Hello All,

I have a strange question......

Have any Bandit 1200 owners noticed the Carburetor Intake Boots vibrate when the engine is idleing? I don't know if this is normal, my bike has 800 miles on it and seems to run fine. Could this be a normal condition, caused buy vavle overlap at idle?

Have you had the first service performed on the bike....or done it yourself?
The valve adjustment is supposed to be checked at 600 miles.
I'd also wonder about the carb synch if the bike seems to be vibrating a bit....

Mine do that... Especially after they get hot you can see them pulsating with the engine...

Normal as far as i know...

Thanks for the response Pete. Yes, I performed the first service. All valves within spec but some of the exhaust vavles on the tight end of specification. All valves were adjusted to middle of spec (.005 in intake and .008in Exhaust).

Good idea about the Carb Sync. Didn't check but it wouldn't hurt to put the carb stix on and give it a tweak if required.

Carb sync may help, but it will still do it.

I think the boots are supposed to flex. The engine is mounted solid as is the airbox. The carbs are held in place by the rubber boots which act as a flexible link.
