Post by: gunz on September 10, 2007, 06:34:36 PM
Going to pick up my new 1250 S tomorrow. (NON ABS, Sorry i am a control freak) Got tired of riding my 02 concours. (great bike, just too darn hot) I moved down here from oregon a couple months ago and wow, The connie was hot. Anyhow I do alot of sport touring and I am planning on using the bandit 1250S in the same capacity. I rode about 15k miles in 9 months on my last bike. Anyhow looking forward to being an active member here on the forum. hello from Alabama.

Anyone going to Biketoberfest?

Hello there Gunz! :welcome:

Biketoberfest.......oooooooo....that sounds cool. Me and the boys are heading for Myrtle Bike Week next May - nothing this year left other than weekend goof off riding.

Be sure to post pictures of Daytona. Try to find other Bandit 1250 guys and see how thier bikes are doing and what mods have been made. It's a great machine - you'll love it.
 :congrats:
Phil

Well after all the wait its home. Got it today. a black 1250S. Put 60 miles onit. i was heading out  and noticed a chattering/buzzig noise coming from the clutch area. Sounds like its grinding to me. So I came home. Off to the dealer tomorrow morning to get it looked at. Overall i like the torque of the bike. Remenber I just sold my 02 concours. THis bike has tons more power and I havent gone over 5000 RPMS yet either. Smooth as silk, No buzz in the bars. The gear ratio seems very road worthy. Going 85 MPH at 4500. Very easy to get on down the road like that. i really like it so far. Was planning on a 300+ mile trip tomorrow, but this issue may have me grounded for a bit. i will report back in with the findings.

A noisy clutch is a common complaint on the new B1250. If it gets quiet when you pull the clutch in, it may be normal. Mine made a lot of noise too when I first got it, and  though it's quieted down significantly after 4K miles, it's still noticeable.

This bike has a "stacked" transmission derived from the Hayabusa tranny, and shares a similar clutch design. They are noisy too.

But since I can't hear your clutch in person, I wouldn't tell you to ignore it... take it to the dealer just to be on the safe side.

Well I apologize. The clutch is on the right side, THis noise is coming from the left side, I think its the staror caver. It only makes the noise whan the motor is warm and under load. (thats why it went away with the clutch pull) It is a loud buzzing noise. I went in this AM and got the run around, The let it cool in the shade and then only rode it less than a mile. Tech said there was nothing wrong with it. Well Its poretty darn loud. I went to pull the starter cover today and got about 23 teaspoons of oil out oof it before it stopped( should there be oil in there) Anyhow I didnt get teh cover iff. i checkened out, adn bolted it back after the cover was being difficult to remove, Anyone had that cover off? Any tricks to it?  I dont think the local dealer is going to do anything abou tit till it just eats itself or has catastrophic failure. I know its under warranty, but i want it fixed so i feel comfortable riding it furthur from home.

Did you have it on the sidestand or centerstand when you were trying to take the starter cover off?

I don't know about the 1250, but with the old 1200 motor, you'll loose oil on the sidestand, but not on the c'stand when removing the cover. And the 1200's starter cover does require a little prying to get it off.

And, the 1200's starter cover has dowel pins so it has to be removed straight away from the engine.

Well this is the pat when I admit that I am a moron. The last 4 bikes that i had were the seca 900, yamaha Virago, Harley Wide glide , kawasaki concours. Anyhow i took it out today in the country away from all the city noise and guess what/ Its chain noise. Boy I feel stupid. I havent had a chain drive bike in over 15 years now. Forgot how loud they can be .  So the buxx from the right side of the motor is just the chain on my new bike. But I did get 500 miles in today. Going in for the 600 mile check up tomorrow. Want it back for the weekend so i can ride without the 5000 RPM limitation. I have been vary strict. Kep it under 4500 all the time and only made 5000RPM today just before I got home and they was just for a second. Tomorrow i am up to 7000RPM limit! should be alot more fun then,

I hardly ever turn mine over 7-7500 rpm.  anything over that and it just sort of flattens out.  You'll love the 4K-7500 power range though!

Well I have well over 1000 miles on here now. I am going on a litle trip monday to run her out a bit. i still have no real complaints, Just wish it has dash storage like my concours did. Might look into making something for it. Taller windscreen adn bags are soon to come. Cant decide between soft bags or hard bags as of yet.

Gie me a few days- i should have a little write up on both.

Honestly thuogh- I noticed very little difference in the screens...but to be fair- i am a 330 lb gorilla of a man, so my shoulders catch alot, no matter what.  It does look nice though.;)
