Title: Idle adjustment?
Post by: treybrad on June 17, 2007, 09:29:44 PM
My new 1250 seems to idle just a hair too low. Once it's warmed up, it smooth as butter, but cold starting it gives a very lumpy idle. Same thing happened when I adjusted my SV650's idle too low... smooth when warm, a little scattered cold.

The book calls for 1,100-1,300 I think, and warm mine is right at 1,100 if not a touch below. Is there an easy way to adjust it, or is this going to require a trip to the dealer? On the SV, there was a little screw to turn to tell the EFI to bump it up a notch. Anything like that on the Bandit?

Thanks! Let me know. I took note today in traffic on the way home, and even in sloooww traffic I'm idling at 1,000 RPM or maybe just a hair higher. Not even 1,100...

I've tried to spy some kind of adjustment screw but nothing jumps out at me.. and the last thing I'm doing is just trying to turn things.. :duh:

The other thing that seems weird... my SV idled at 1,100 or so when warm, but when cold it would "bump" it up to 1,300 or so to help w/ the cold start I guess. When I start my Bandit it idles at the same 1,000 as when fully warm in traffic.... normal?

I had that with my ride until my 1000 km checkup ... and they found the valves were closed.
