Title: Is the 650 an O or X ring chain?
Post by: MaxBandit on May 24, 2009, 05:22:26 PM
I apologise for all the stupid questions but is the chain on the 2008 GSF 650 K8 an O-ring or X-ring chain?

I only ask because because I need to clean and lube my chain for the first time and I read you can only lube the side plate of the chain on O-ring chain but with X-ring chains you need to lubricate each part of the chain a lot more often.

Lube it all... keep it clean.

Not much difference between the two chain types IMHO... both use an o-ring to supposedly hold grease inside the rollers.  Cleaning prevents sand/grit/dirt from degrading the o-rings.  That's why I believe chain lube that flings off is a good thing - carries away some of the crap between cleanings.

To answer your question... I can't say for sure but knowing Suzuki it's an o-ringer.
