I always thought the bandit rear fender and tail light were a bit bulky and cumbersome so I bought a fender eliminator on e-bay and am in the process of converting it.
Here is a pic of the stock set-up and another after cutting it off with a sawzall. I still need to sand it off a bit to get it smooth and flat.

It was kind of nerve racking cutting that thing off but apart from cutting a vent hose in half it seemed to go pretty well. I can splice the vent hose back together.
I'll put some more pics on when I get it done.

Looks cleaner, also from an engineer's eye that something is missing. For me the big question is how did cutting on it affect function? Got any rear shot video's riding on wet pavement or through puddles. :duh:

I'm an engineer also and there is something missing.... the rear fender. That was the whole idea, it's just a look. These fender eliminators are offered with just about any sport bike. You'll see a lot of them out there on the road like this. I ride this bike pretty much back and forth to work and short trips on the curvy roads we have in this area. I avoid the rain, a big baby I guess.
This type of thing may not be practical for long cross country rides or the daily rain or shine rider. I must admit I thought the kit contained a whole new rear fender assembly that I could save the old one in case I sell some day. By the time I received the kit in the mail I was at the point of no return. But it's what I wanted so it works for me.
